Welcome to the complete library of Future Vision films, created 2019 to 2024.
The Future Vision (FV) program is a series of animatic-style animated research films, created alongside and for the RUXID team at Toyota Research Institute, as part of a program of work that explores future roles for robotics in supporting an ageing population.
Created primarily for research purposes, these short 'white mirror'* films were created with a level of visual fidelity to ensure clarity of context and concept, and were built in a way that allowed for continuous iteration, up to and beyond testing. The black and white hand-drawn style was the most efficient way of achieving this, it has the semantic benefit of communicating a 'work-in-progress', whilst leaving space for the audience's own mind to contribute.

*In a nod to the dystopian 'Black Mirror' anthology by Charlie Brooker, we liked to refer to our work as 'white mirror', as we sought positive outcomes in future relationships with technology.
